Since spammers (and hopefully other people) loved my sic post, here's another word that I finally got fed up with not knowing and Googled the answer. Today's word is natch, which according to this Word of the Day for June 7, 1999 page is short for "naturally." So there you go.
I have been wondering what [sic] meant for a long long time. I have seen it a bunch of times, and used context clues to determine that it meant something about a mistake in a quote. I saw in my Gmail Web Clips thing (is that still only for a select few?) that Ask Yahoo explained what it meant. So basically it means that the mistake in the quote is not my fault. I feel so relieved to know. Now I can use that all the time when I'm quoting wrong quotes.
Pseudodictionary lets you add words you invented into a dictionary. Sorta weird and pointless I think. It's fun anyway. See if your favorite made up words are already there, or add them and get credit for them. Maybe I can steal credit for other people's made up words.
