There's 16 different ways to tie your shoes. That's amazing. I think I tie mine using the two loop shoelace knot, but I'm not sure that I understand the diagrams, although they look very good. It's funny the way I tie my shoes has a warning to not make a "slip knot." I really hate those guys. They are hated. I'm guessing that since my laces don't come undone very often, I must be not doing that.
I have a long and boring shoelace story. When I was a kid it took me a long time to learn how to tie my laces because I'm left handed and most everyone else isn't. So they would say something like "tie it like this, except do it flipped around." I think I'm bad at learning things like that too. So finally my mom taught me how to tie laces the way I linked to above. So for the longest time I knew I was tying shoes in a weird way compared to everyone else. It was only until a few years ago that I learned that Alex, who I've known since 5th grade, also ties his laces that way. It was really weird that we just figured that out after so many years. I think he didn't know that he ties them in a non-standard way, which is odd because he's really picky about the actual lacing of the shoe and makes sure they get laced in a certain way.
Another boring shoe story involves when I went to Japan in 2001. Since we had to put on and take off shoes when going outside and inside, I got into the habit of just sliding my shoes on and off, and I've stuck with that since then. I think it's saved a lot of time in the long run. Now I only tie my shoes when they come undone, and otherwise just slide them off and on.
How do you tie your shoes? I want to start a poll. Or just encourage you to leave a comment.
